Ngarivhume spent two nights in police cells after being arrested on Saturday for holding a political meeting at Vashandiri Centre in Mkoba.

He was released yesterday morning and rearrested later in the day along with 13 party supporters who demonstrated outside Gweru Central Police Station as Ngarivhume was being escorted to court.

Ngarivhume held a similar meeting at Hatfield in Harare and police in Gweru were notified that there was a warrant of arrest for him.

TZ lawyer Reginald Chidawanyika confirmed the arrest saying Ngarivhume appeared in court yesterday facing charges under Posa.

“The prosecutor indicated that he would proceed by way of summons since the investigations were incomplete. On our way back from court he was re-arrested with police indicating he was needed by Hatfield police (in Harare),” Chidawanyika said.
Gweru police declined to comment.

  1. Does the ZRP arrest to investigate or investigate to arrest? Poor, poor ZRP

  2. Is TZ an illegal organisation? It may be little known but zanupf has seen the potential threat especially with the hullabullo in the MDCs, tghis party can scale heights and they are moulding it by persecuting them. Where are they? They should also come into Harare.

  3. Our politicians who disregard the rule of law are clearly not in government to serve the nation but for their own selfish wealth creation and they have destroyed everything productive from farms to industry in the process. It has become such an embarassment now for one to be Zimbabwean with all the negative stories coming out from our beloved land. We have a trained police unit taking to their heels running from stone pelting farm labourers, hardly a month after a thorough bashing from worshipers. What is this world coming to?

  6. If their investigations were not complete, why did they make the arrest. Is it a case of guilty until proven innocent. Its a shame on the police……
