Parirenyatwa’s daughter, Ruvheneko, said her grandmother died at Parirenyatwa Hospital on a day she was expected to celebrate her 85th birthday.

“She was diabetic. She had been admitted at Parirenyatwa Hospital for treatment,” Ruvheneko said.

“Gogo Mkwananzi, as Emely was popularly known, is survived by one son (David) and three daughters.

Ruvheneko said mourners are gathered at No 8 Easkins Road, Romany Park, in Bulawayo.

She will be buried tomorrow in Bulawayo, where she was born.
