JAZZ enthusiasts can be assured of a night of fun when popular jazz musician-cum-actress Prudence Katomeni-Mbofana performs at Old Mutual Theatre at Alliance Française on Friday in the capital.

Arts pageThe gig, dubbed Mabhangu naPrue — which is the third edition of the show, is being put together by PKM Entertainment and promises to be a thriller as Katomeni-Mbofana is well known for putting up sterling performances.

Since making it on the local showbiz scene, the BP Yakwira singer has mastered the various complexities of jazz and knows how to use the skills to create entertaining sounds.

Speaking to NewsDay, Katomeni-Mbofana’s manageress Margaret Chigumira urged fans to come in their numbers and promised a good show.

“This is a show not to be missed as Prudence and some surprise artistes will take turns to entertain revellers at the third edition of Mabhangu naPrue,” Chigumira said.

Chigumira said they would be unveiling “a special package” to their fans who had not ceased to support them.

Through her stunning, powerful voice, Katomeni-Mbofana is regarded as one of the top country’s top jazz performers.

Katomeni-Mbofana has showed her versatility as an artiste when she featured in a number of local films that include Playing Warriors by Rumbi Katedza and multiple award-winning film More Time, a 1993 local production which focused on HIV and Aids and social pressures among the youths.

A holder of Bachelor of Arts degree in Jazz Music from the Zimbabwe College of Music, Katomeni-Mbofana has done a lot of collaborations with both renowned and upcoming artistes, among them Jazz Invitation, Tanga Wekwa Sando, Cool Crooners and gospel sensation Tendai Mahachi.

She has performed in different countries like Germany, Norway and France, among other countries, sharing stage with an array of African legends.

In May this year, she headlined the Zimbabwe Achievers’ Awards held in the United Kingdom.

Tickets of the show are selling for $10 and are available at Alliance Française.
