United States-based Zimbabwean amateur golfer Ben Follett-Smith made a winning return to the local amateur golf circuit after clinching the Chapman Grand Slam tournament at Chapman Golf Club at the weekend.

Follett-Smith, who is currently back in the country on holiday after earning a golf scholarship at Mississippi State University last year carded rounds of 72, 74 and 71 for a 54-hole total 217. The 20-year-old Royal Harare Golf Club golfer finished three shot clear of his club mate Gary Thompson.
Thompson fired an impressive 69 in the final round to surge up the leaderboard after getting off to a slow start following round of 76 and 75 in the first two rounds.
Borrowdale Brooke Golf Club’s Travis Smith finished third with a total of 221 after rounds of 71-73 and 77.
Rising junior golfer Kieran Vincent continued his recent top form with a commendable fourth place finish.
Young Vincent’s perfomance at Chapman came barely two days after finishing a credible third at the Nomads SA Boys Under-17 Stroke Play Championship at Polokwane Golf Club in South Africa last week.
Chapman Grand Slam tournament, which is one of the biggest tournaments on the local amateur golf circuit, attracted a strong field of 71 players. The participants played 36 holes on Saturday before finishing with 18 holes on Sunday.
