The 26-year-old, who was released by Bloemfontein Celtic early this year, left the country last week for a ten day trial period with the Birds.

However, Swallows coach Zeca Marques on Tuesday told the South African media that he will not sign the striker.

Mutuma was released by Celtic in January and had wanted to join Dynamos as a free agent, but problems with his transfer papers scuttled the move.

The league champions were hoping to register him on July 1 when the transfer window opened, but a sudden interest from Swallows left the Harare giants “confused”.

But now that he has failed to make the grade at Swallows, Dynamos secretary-general Webster Chikengezha said they would move quickly to register him before other clubs can get him.

Mutuma is expected back in the country this weekend.

“We have always wanted him since he was released by Celtic. He was training with us all this time and is willing to play for Dynamos. We will talk to him as soon as he returns and register him so that he can start playing,” Chikengezha yesterday said.

Another player set to complete his move to Dynamos in the coming weeks is DRC striker Fabrice Mbimba.

Chikengezha said they have applied for a work permit for him which should be ready next week ahead of the player’s arrival the following week.

Mbimba, who was Zanaco of Zambia last season, signed a one-year contract with Dynamos last month.

Besides the two, Dynamos said they are also looking for a goalkeeper to replace George Chigova who left last month for SuperSport.

According to Chikengezha, a list of potential replacements have been forwarded to him by coach Kalisto Pasuwa although he said its most likely that the position would be filled by a player from the club’s juniors.

Dynamos host Black Rhinos at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday hoping to win and assume the top position in the event that the match between Highlanders and How Mine set for Barbourfields goes their way. Highlanders top the log standings with 24 points, one ahead of Dynamos and Caps United while How Mine are fourth on 22 points.
