The draw provided some intriguing match-ups with two derbies being served. Caps United were drawn against their number one enemy Dynamos and Highlanders will play How Mine while Harare City will be up against Triangle. The other quarterfinal match will see FC Platinum facing off with Chicken Inn.

What they said Keni Mubaiwa (Dynamos chairman): “It’s a good draw and I’m happy that we are going to play Caps United again after our meeting in the league. We are going to beat them and progress to the next round. You know it’s always nice and satisfying to beat your biggest opponent in the league so I wouldn’t have wished for any other opponent other than Caps United and thank God we got them. We drew the last match, but it was because we missed lots of chances in that match and this time we will show them that we are true champions.”

Mgcini Mpofu, Highlanders vice-chairman: “I wouldn’t have wished for anything better.

Derbies are never easy, but we have to see to it that we surpass the hurdle and go to the semi-finals. It’s a must that we win because being a cup match with some financial rewards which are instant we have to make sure that we beat How Mine, go to the semi-final and aspire to go to the final. We are aiming for the $80 000 (winners prize).”

Bigboy Mawiwi, Harare City coach: “It’s a very tricky assignment playing Triangle because they are playing well. You know with cup games anything is possible. Triangle is a good side, but naturally we would want to progress to the next round and see how it goes. We started our preparations for this match on Tuesday and I think by the time we play the match, we will be well prepared.”

Chido Chizondo, FC Platinum spokesperson: “Chicken Inn are a very good side and we will not take any chances against them. It would be an interesting match because we are playing at Mandava, and considering that they beat us the last time we met in this competition [NetOne Charity Shield final]. Our team has depth this season so with that in mind we have got a lot of work cut out for Chicken Inn.”

Mlungisi Moyo, Chicken Inn committee member:  “It’s a challenging, but motivational draw. I think the team will draw inspiration from the fact that we won the last NetOne Charity Shield in Mandava which is our home away from home. Platinum are playing well, but we are playing well too.  I think my boys would rise to the occasion. I would not want to call ourselves the defending champions, but we were the last winners of the NetOne Charity Shield and I think we will be the first to win the One Wallet Cup.”

Mlondolozi Nkomo, How Mine chairman:  “The game has come at the right time for us because we have a lot of issues to settle with Highlanders. They beat us in the Mbada Diamonds Cup final last year and they also beat us in the league some few weeks ago, but it was by a very small margin so I think having another game will give us a chance to prove ourselves.”

Taurai Mangwiro, Caps United coach: “We welcome the draw and I think it’s fair and also good for the supporters who would have a chance to watch another derby. We were expecting any team really because in cup competitions all the teams are the same. We are looking forward to play another good match and hopefully we will win.” Lovemore Matikinyidze, Triangle chairman:  “The teams in the league are the same, but if I were to be given a chance to choose who to meet in the first round I would have chosen Highlanders. We are Triangle, a capable Triangle who want challenges and we like them big. Harare City cannot be compared to the big teams but we will not underrate them. Our target is winning the tournament and we are very capable of doing that.”
