EMBATTLED Chiredzi Football Club coach Moses Chunga yesterday filed court papers challenging his expulsion from the club by the team’s chairman Charles Muchatukwa.

Muchatukwa had filed an application barring Chunga from dealing in anything or on behalf of the football club after a nasty fallout following his [Chunga] alleged abuse of funds collected after a match between Chiredzi Football Club and Dynamos last month.

The situation further deteriorated after Chunga allegedly refused to make use of transport that was hired by the executive to travel to Zvishavane to play Shabanie Mine the following week.

It is also alleged Chunga did the same thing a fortnight ago whereby he allegedly ordered his players to abandon the hired commuter omnibus and use a public conventional bus to travel to Harare.

It is further alleged, after the match, the players were stranded in Harare after failing to secure busfare for their journey back to Chiredzi forcing them to stay for three days without food and accommodation.

Muchatukwa claims Chunga failed to raise the busfare for all the players thereby forcing the executive to fork out money again.

Despite being served with an interdict order which became immediately effective upon being served on him, Chunga is said to have failed to file opposing court papers within the stipulated seven-day period and only served the applicant at the close of business on Monday.

Muchatukwa’s lawyer, Ross Chavi sought postponement of the matter to July  21 on the basis that he needed time to read and respond to Chunga’s papers which were filed late and the application was not opposed by Chunga’s lawyer, Welly Muzenda.

The postponements of the matter continue to add misery on the team as Chunga is allegedly refusing to hand over licenses and a uniform for football players which he confiscated after he was served with court papers.
