The next international Fifa friendly date falls between September 1-9. There is also another between October 6-14 and the other falls between November 10-18.

Zifa communications manager Xolisani Gwesela said there were plans for an international friendly for the national team, but could not give further details.

“There are plans for an international friendly match for the Warriors possibly against Libya but there are no concrete details at the moment. We will let you know when there is something concrete,” he said.

Should the international friendly against Libya materialises it will be the second time the two teams will be meeting this year. The two teams met in the semi-finals of the Chan tournament in South Africa early this year with Libya emerging triumphant after a penalty shoot -out.

The Libyans eventually claimed the African Nations Championship title after defeating the Black Stars of Ghana 4-3 in another penalty shootout. The Warriors were thrown into inactivity after they lost a battle for a place at the 2015 African Cup of Nations in Morocco at the hands of lowly Tanzania.

Ian Gorowa’s men lost 1-0 to the Taifa Stars in the first leg of the first round of the qualifiers before being held to a 2-2 draw at home. That failure to qualify for Morocco means the Warriors will have to wait for the next two years to participate in a major football tournament.
