The third edition of Bofoz will be running under the theme Step Into Spotlight with participants starting to enter the competition on August 1 until March 16 next year.

The grand finale is expected to be held on May 30 next year at Harare International Conference Centre.

The competitions are eligible for Zimbabweans aged 18 and above. Organisers said aspiring contestants are required to buy any Black Opal products worth $18 and fill-in an entry form to be attached to an A6 close-up photo and a proof of purchase receipt.

Speaking to NewsDay on the side-lines of the launch, Black Opal Zimbabwe marketing director Tatenda Mutseyekwa said they were happy about the growth of the pageant.

“With Bofoz, we celebrate the local beauty trademark and we want to give back to our customers and empower local women,” Mutseyekwa said.

“Zimbabwe has diverse beauty and such a development must be celebrated under different initiatives.

“With lessons learnt from previous editions of Bofoz, we want to make the forthcoming event bigger and better.

“As we are keen to reach a wide audience, the event is going to be beamed live on national television and continental broadcaster DSTV.”

Meanwhile, at the same event, winners of this year’s edition of Bofoz were presented with their prizes.

The Bofoz Local Brand Ambassador pageant was held last month at the Reps Theatre in Harare under the theme African Carpet.

For winning Bofoz Local Brand Ambassador title, 33-year-old Tendai Farai received $8 000 and a week-long trip to the United States and $3 000 spending money.

Sandra Gonah and Tamara Musakwa, who were crowned first and second princess respectively, received $4 000 and $2 000 respectively.

Unlike other beauty pageants, the Bofoz pageant accommodates married, curvy, tall and short participants as the organisers mainly concentrate on facial beauty and the knowledge of the Black Opal products.
