Vincent, who won the prestigious Players Amateur tournament in South Carolina, last week before finishing fourth at the 108th Southern Amateur Championship on Saturday is now ranked seventh in the world, making him Africa’s flag bearer in the amateur ranks.

South Africa’s Zander Lombard, who is ranked on position 31 is the second highest ranked player on the continent, followed by his compatriot Zander Lombard who sits on position 40.

With the 2014 US Amateur Championship now less than three weeks away, Vincent’s rich vein of form should give him confidence to do well against some of the world’s finest amateurs.

The US Amateur Championship which is the leading annual golf tournament in the United States for amateur golfers will take place at the Atlanta Athletic Club in the US state of Georgia from August 11-17.

Vincent, a three-time winner at Virginia Tech University during the 2013/14 season will be one of the players to watch during the tournament after qualifying by virtue of being in the top 50 of the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

Meanwhile,  the country’s top professional golfer Brendon de Jonge missed the cut at the Open Championship held at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Merseyside, England.

Playing in his first Open Championship since joining the pro ranks 11 years ago, the Zimbabwean opened his campaign with a disappointing six-over par 78 before improving in the second round to card a two-under par 70.
