The winner of the competition will represent the nation at the global Miller Music Tour set for August 22 to 26 at Marquee Club, Las Vegas, United States, where he will get the opportunity to play alongside 100 of the world’s top DJs.

Speaking to NewsDay, one of the event organisers said the MGD sound clash finals were seeking to afford aspiring DJs the opportunity to showcase their talent on the turntables across the globe while giving consumers and fans of the brand the opportunity to engage with sound clash.

“Miller Genuine Draft has built a strong heritage in music around the world for the last 25 years and the MGD DJs sound clash is more than just a DJ search competition as it has been positioned to cultivate and support the emerging electro-dance music talent that has made this genre of music one of the most exciting and dynamic not only in Africa, but the world over,” she said.

After the event, after-party celebrations will be held at the Glass House in Borrowdale, where local DJs will rub shoulders with South Africa’s DJs Fresh and Euphonic and artistes Knaves and Khuli Chana.

The concept of the clash requested local DJs to submit a 10-minute mix made up of tracks from four music genres, electro-dance music, afro house, hip- hop and dancehall, where the best mixes from all submissions were chosen. At the global Miller music tour, three DJs will represent the African continent.
