John Legend comes to Zim

AMERICAN singer, songwriter and actor John Legend, real name John Roger Stephens, is expected to perform in the country on November 19 at the Harare International Conference Centre as part of his All of Me tour.

The Grammy Award-winning musician will be in the country courtesy of D Productions and Big Concerts,with the show being presented by Alpha Media and ZiFM.

Legend is billed to stage two shows at the Grand Arena in Cape Town on November 16 and 17 before heading to Zimbabwe for the show. He will go back to South Africa for two other shows at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg on November 22 and 23.

The musician yesterday using a Twitter account, John Legend @johnlegend, tweeted: “Zimbabwe! I am excited to announce that I will be playing a show in Harare on Nov 19th. Presale tickets available this Sunday. Can’t wait!”

An Evening with John Legend: The All of Me Tour has currently sold out in over 60 cities in the United States of America.
Legend started playing piano at a tender age of four in church and prior to the release of his debut album, his career rose through a series of successful collaborations with multiple established artists.

Legend released his debut album, Get Lifted, on GOOD Music in December 2004.

It featured production by Kanye West, Dave Tozer, and it was debuted at number 13 on the US Billboard 200, selling 116 000 copies in its first week.

The album won the 2006 Grammy Award for Best R&B Album, and also earned him another two nominal awards for Best New Artist and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.

His second album Once Again, was released in October 2006 which he co-produced the bulk of the songs.

In 2008, he featured in the movie Soul Men where he had a supporting, singing role, playing the deceased lead singer of a fictitious soul group.

In October the same year, he released his third album called Evolver.

The following year he featured in The People Speak, a documentary feature film that uses dramatic and musical performances of the letters, diaries, and speeches of everyday Americans, based on historian Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States.

    • John Legend seems to be a person of African descent possible of mixed race. He is often called an African-American though I have seen people of mixed race with African and European or Asian who look similar to him.

      What I do know for sure is that he has fans from all over the world of all races. I am sure there will be a lot of woman there of all races, as I think most of his fans are woman.
