AWARD-winning hip-hop artiste Gerald Mugweni ‘Synik’ is representing the country at the 9th edition of the Senegal Fiesta 2H currently underway in Dakar.

A statement by Tafadzwa Sharaunga, Shoko Festival spokesperson, says the artiste will share the stage with international acts from the United States and France.

“The Zim Hip-Hop award magnet, real name Gerald Mugwenhi, will be sharing the stage with international acts such as Akua Naru (US) and Pockemon crew (France),” said Sharaunga.

Synik also performed at this year’s edition of Hifa. According to Sharaunga, the festival is one of the biggest hip-hop showcase in Africa.

“It is one of Africa’s largest Hip-Hop showcase with 14 countries participating this year. The festival includes art-forms such as rap, graffiti, break-dance, poetry slams, concerts and DJ, ” he said.

The tour was organised by Magamba Network’s artist agency programme in association with Africulturban the host of Fiesta 2h.

The exchange will also see artistes from Senegal come to Zimbabwe and perform at Shoko Festival from the September 25 to 28 in Harare.

The festival opened on June  4 and ends on Sunday.

Synik produced an album in 2012 ‘Syn City’ which catapulted him to dizzy heights and earned him three awards at that year’s edition of Zim Hip-Hop Awards.
