Chabvonga confirmed to NewsDay Generator’s departure, but could not disclose more on the matter.

“We have parted ways with Generator and I wish her all the best whereever she goes,” Chabvonga said.

A close source to the goings on who spoke on condition of anonymity told NewsDay that Generator (real name Evidence Kufinya) was fired for indiscipline.

“That girl was a problem, she angered Chabvonga because of her unbecoming behaviour and she was told to leave the band,” the source said.

“At first she was suspended and then she was told that Chabvonga could not keep on tolerating her at the expense of other members resulting in her being fired.”

The source said some band members had also been complaining about Generator’s behaviour.

Efforts to get a comment from Generator were fruitless as her mobile number was not reachable by the time of going to print.

Generator, who made her name on the local showbiz scene through her exceptional dancing skills, is not a stranger to controversy after she was fired twice from Jah Prayzah’s Third Generation Band over issues of misconduct.

Her last dismissal was after allegations that on New Year’s eve she picked up a fan’s phone at Harare International Conference Centre where they had a gig with Oliver Mtukudzi and Sulumani Chimbetu, and demanded $50 as a token of appreciation to return it.

This did not go down well with Jah Prayzah’s management who claimed that her behaviour was tarnishing the reputation of their band and decided to expel her.

Owing to her dancing and vocal skills, Generator then joined Chabvonga’s band in June this year.
