The Wimbledon Championship, the oldest and widely considered the most prestigious tennis tournament in the world gets underway on Monday ending on July 6 at the All England Club. According to the lists of the 32 seeded players for the women’s doubles event released earlier this week, Black and Mirza were seeded fourth.

Recently round French Open champions Hsieh Su Wei from Chinese Taipei and China’s Shuai Peng were named the top seeded while the Italian pair of Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci were seeded second.

The Czech Republic’s Kveta Peschke and Slovakia’s Katarina Srebotnik were named the third seeds.

Black and Mirza, who will head to Wimbledon still in search of their maiden gland slam title since teaming up last year, were given a high seeding of four after a fairly good season on tour. In their last appearance at a grand slam the pair reached the quarterfinals at the French Open and will enter the season’s third grand slam event full of confidence.

The Indo-Zimbabwean pair also look have made a smooth transition from clay surface to the grass surface they will play on at Wimbledon after reaching the semifinals at the Aegon Classic.
