Alice Kuwandira (23), who resides in Zengeza 5, was remanded in custody to June 27 when she appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Lazarus Murendo.
The State alleges that on June 8 this year, Kuwandira assaulted her six-year-old son using a shoe heel and cooking stick, accusing him of bedwetting.
The toddler allegedly succumbed to the battering later that night.
Kuwandira was not asked to plead to the murder charge.
