Apostolic sect ‘shameful, ungodly’ — Chihuri

POLICE Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri yesterday described Madzibaba Ishmael Mufani’s Johanne Masowe weChishanu apostolic sect members, who turned violent and bashed police officers during a raid at the their Budiriro shrine in Harare, as “shameful, ungodly and loathsome” elements.

Addressing graduands at a police passout parade at Tomlison Depot in Harare, Chihuri said the police was deeply perturbed by the incident which displayed wilful disregard of the law by men and women of the cloth.

“What is apparently shocking about the reckless disregard for the law is that men and women of cloth are the perpetrators,” Chihuri said.

“This contradiction is not only deplorable, but shameful, ungodly and loathsome.

“The attack on police officers doing the constitutional duties is the height of delinquent behaviour which should never find any breeding space in our country and is thus roundly condemned.”

Chihuri, an apostolic sect member himself, buttressed his admonishment of criminals by quoting the scriptures, saying citizens should subject themselves to lawful authority.

“Therefore, whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed and those who resist will incur judgment,” he said.

At least 36 members of the sect have been arrested over the incident and are still awaiting trial although Madzibaba Ishmael is reportedly still on the run.
Chihuri, however, applauded police for reducing the crime rate, but expressed concern over the surge in sexual offences.

“It is, however, disturbing to note that cases of rape involving juveniles increased as 1 494 cases were recorded between January and May 2014 compared to 1 384 cases received during the same period in 2013,” he said.

“I am pleased that the graduands before us undertook a rich and edifying catalogue of courses which among others, included the political history of Zimbabwe, human rights and policing and Domestic Violence Act.”

  1. I agree that citizens should not assault police officers on duty. It is shameful. What I may not agree with is the CG’s statement that police have managed to reduce crime. I know that police are relying on statistics for cases reported to them. The police should try to find out how many cases committed are reported. I believe that they will realize that a good number of cases are not reported because investigations are sometimes not diligently carried out, resulting in the citizens believing it is a waste of time to report a matter to the police. The police should then move to clean up this negative image by investigating cases swiftly.

The CG is probably relying on false figures, which do not necessarily mean police have managed to reduce crime. Try this, Cde Chihuri, and come back to us.

  2. you can’t judge the ungodly of a person nekuda kwekurwa. If a person looses temper doesn’t mean he ungodly

  3. Padlock ( Chihuri ) don’t forget that those policemen who were flogged had entered a blessed area with their shoes and they were told to remove them but they refused. Moses was told to remove his shoes for the soil which he was standing was holy,he obeyed and was not punished but as for these police they turned a deaf eadr hence they were wipped.

    • @ Chemical Solution. The so-called shrine of a deranged child molester, women abuser, lawless renegade and self-anointed god can only be “blessed” by the arch- devil Satan himself.

  4. So Madzibaba Ishmael is still on the run? I thought by now he was behind bars. Remember the diesel n’anga. Police busy looking for her in the forests and caves yet she was being hidden in Borrowdale. Has the police gone there?

  5. saka nhai madzibaba Augustine maudza ma Purisa enyu here kuti ku Masowe hakupindwe ne shangu, because vachaita the same mistake vagorakashwa.

    • not so crime by who? who was a criminal here, did you rpove they are abusing the women, and why do the women want to be with men who abuse them? give a dog a bda name to kill it is what was done on these mapositori. The thug was Ndanga and the police again escouted thugs who should be charged of arson so who is ungodly here and may i ask Chihuri which go, is he talking God we know the I am or he is talking Baal.

  6. I totally agree with the police Commissioner in theis matter as the said sect had erred in fighting the police. Any state that does not respect its police force is doomed indeed. However, in his address the Commissioner must have also admonished those members of ZRP who have turned our roads into their fields of corruption by demanding monies from the road users, monies which have never found any way to Govt. coffers as ZRP have lined their pockets. it is always the correct time to warn would-be offenders on graduation so that they respect the Police Charter to the letter. Our police force is corrupt and we all know that as they force us daily on the roads to pay monies to them.

  7. What is shameful and un- Godly is a police force mandated to serve and protect attacking worshipers and destroying property at their sacred shrine. What is loathsome is a police force that is supposed to fight crime taking money meant to be for the state and turning it into a fundraising scheme and lining their pockets. It is criminal and none other than the police are the culprits.

  8. Saka iwo mapurisa ndiwo anobvumidzwa kurova vanhu nekuvatyisa. Mapurisa ane office ye Public Relations, vakadii kuyishandisa, pane kuenda vakabata mboma… zvakaiwana ngwarati,,,

  9. I agree with the CG Police. People regardless of their religious, social and or political standing should respect the LAW. The scriptures in the book of Romans instructs God fearing people to submit to their ruler (authorities). Also true the CG Police should deal with the corruption being committed by our police. This will cause people to respect them the more. Further to this the police should improve service delivery.

  10. We want a fair game. The vapostori must respect the police. Same applies to the police they must also respect the people and their religion. Comrade Chihuri is very biased he is describing vapostori as ungodly and shameful which is the opposite. The Police conduct was shameful and ungodly. Why did they go kumasowe instead of just call the church leaders to discuss the issue. He is giving wrong image and tarnishing the name of vapostori. Chihuri must be charged with deformation of character.

  11. Ndekupi kune mbavha kuPolice kana kuMasowe? ndekupi kune mahure kuPolice kana kuMasowe? ndekupi kune mhondi zhinji kuPolice kana kuMasowe? ndekupi kune maZanu kumazhinji kuPolice kana kuMasowe?
Saka kuri unGodly and unHoly ndekupi?

  12. NOT SO whether you are Mr, Mrs, Miss or Ms, I say to you

Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, and not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved by science.NOT SO.bleesed land is not indited on the ground but deepdown where your poor eyes can not reach. So you small dude stop picking those sour grapes and throw them to me.
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.

  13. Iyo porisi ndiyo inenge yatanga kuita ungodly, madzibaba chihuri kana zvouya kwenyu moti zvaipa. Hypocrites!

  14. Mr,Miss or Ms NOT SO,Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” “O serpent heart hid with a flowering face!
Did ever a dragon keep so fair a cave?
Beautiful tyrant, feind angelical, dove feather raven, wolvish-ravening lamb! Despised substance of devinest show, just opposite to what thou justly seemest – A dammed saint, an honourable villain!” If you don’t understand what I am saying go back to school you Mr,Miss or Ms NOT So.You are clumssy. How could you expect our police to be respected when they are the most devilsh elements of the society who should lead by example.I don’t have kind words for them. Yes the rule of LAW has to be respecte but when that RULE of Law is on the Shoulders of our police the it looses its validity. You can’t wash you clothes with ashes but with water and soap.

  15. My fellow country men…..we speak with too much emotion and lack analytical prowess. chekutanga respect who ever you are about to approach. we all know respect is earned. You can not rubbish another mans belief. Kana achiti apa its holy ground yake respect that belief. Nyati vaMutasa vabvisa shangu paChinhoyi in recognition of the spiritual realm he was entering.
Nyaya yaizo taurika dai mapurisa akatanga kushowa that respect. Kune avo vano ziva Communications approach masvikiro ako determines outcome in most of the cases. Violence cannot be condoned as a means of solving any situation.

  16. Madzibaba Augustine ,you have taken a side .Be fare -do you want to influence the decisions of the courts. What determines holiness and godliness? God’s judgement doesn’t come by a mere act or conduct but by the motive behind. At times God is regarded as a God of war,Moses killed an Egyptian,Jesus struck people in the temple etc was all that ungodly.zvirinani kunyarara nezvenyaya iyi pane kuzviratidza huduzman.Whatever ungodly acts that sect was involved should be investigated separately and we want to see culprits brought before the courts.Mungati imi hamuna zvamuinazvo and you rush to judge the conduct yevavingwa nemabutton sticks nemashields.Mitemo ngaitevedzerwe, mapurisa ngaakudzwe but on that particular occasion the police were very wrong.

  17. @Comrade; Any society that derides and disrespects its own law enforcers is doomed. If yu had ever been to Somalia yu wud understand. The peculiar analogy is that religious zealotry by any guise is the basis of anarchy.Vanhu ava want a state of their own with their own sharia like laws rule. Vanasikana havaendi kuchikoro, vanovaita vakadzi at 12-14, havabvumidzi TV / radio (to keep them ignorant of their rights). 90% of the male worshippers were in that sect to get virgins. BhokoHaram by any colour will smell the same. Chero mukaphilosophiza sei it remains intolerable and unacceptable. Iwe Comrade wako mwana ava mu upper sixth asi unoda kuti some sect iite zvainoda nevavamwe.

  18. Chihuri you seem to know the difference between good and evil. Was it godly that you sent your guards to do what they did. To me it was all part of corruption spearhead by your godly administration.

  19. ivo vaitsvagei ikoko, end vakapfeka bhutsu futi , manga makajairira zvidhakwa kumabhawa kikikikikikikiki makazosangana nazvoka

  20. Release those vapostori without condition.
Actually the correct heading should be.

    1. Those policemen had not gone to open docket.
    2. They hhad gone with orders to execute but without a court warrant.
    Saka yakafa yaka loader

  21. Ladies and gentleman you are forgiven for displaying ignorance.

In any country including Zimbabwe, a policeman is not the law but a law enforcer just like the messenger of court.

His duty is to correctly interpret a ‘court warrant’ and execute but not act from the bush like what these overzealous riot men did.

If a policeman is beaten outsyd a court warrant, he has nowhere to turn to for he is acting on his own accord especially in matters of execution like what these foolish policemen were doing.

  22. True. A policeman can be beaten if he acts unlawfully. Otherwise its not the uniform that makes a policeman legal but the actions.
Rimwe gore muchabatirwa mazamu anamai venyu nemunhu makasekerera muchitemba uniform.
Anyway lets wait for our kangaroo courts. They better not mess it on this one

  23. why don’t you officers start working on the molly bish casee instead of posting all day on nigerian websites? just curious

  24. OH Madzibaba Chihuri why deal a Judas kiss to your fellow mapostori like that? All this fracas could have been avoided had your uniformed men taken a professional tactful approach.
