After missing the last part of the Czech top-flight football league due to a shoulder injury, the former Masvingo United and AmaZulu left-back was honoured as the Best Foreign Player on Sunday night, capping a fine season that also saw his club, Sparta Praha, win the league and cup double.
In addition, he was named in the Top Eleven Players of the 2013-2014 Season — an award voted for by fans.
For the Best Foreign Player, Nhamoinesu polled 27 votes while second-placed Haris Harb of FC Highlands, hailing from Bosnia, was way back on 16. In third place was another Bosnian, Jasmin Scuk, who had 13 votes.
Back on the continent, Kaizer Chiefs say Knowledge Musona’s future will be sorted out by the end of this week
“We will make some announcements this week, including the issue about Musona,” Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung said.
Musona was on a season-long loan from Hoffenheim and the Zimbabwean said recently that he is happy to stay on at Chiefs, provided he doesn’t get an opportunity in Europe.
Mamelodi Sundowns, who have signed Kuda Mahachi from Bantu Rovers, were also linked with Musona, but the 23-year-old maintained he will not join the Brazilians. Bidvest Wits have revealed that they will not be renewing the contracts of six players, including former Warriors captain Benjani Mwaruwari while defender Thomas Sweswe has already left the club.
While other players are finding the going tough-Highlanders’ Peter Moyo is the latest Zimbabwean player to find his way to Mzansi after signing a long-term deal with Mpumalanga Black Aces.
He will join fellow countryman Tendai Ndoro and Energy Murambadoro while the club is also expected to seal a permanent deal with Method Mwanjali, who was on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns.
Highlanders attacking midfielder Milton Ncube has joined Ajax Cape Town on a two-year deal with an option for a further year.
Ovidy Karuru will also be looking at staying in the Belgian top-flight after his side OH Leuven was relegated last season while Honour Gombami is considering a return home if he does not get another side in Europe.
