Various local artistes, including superstars Oliver Mtukudzi and Thomas Mapfumo, were this weekend honoured at the Zimbabwe Achiever’s Awards (ZAA) ceremony held in London.

One key announcement by ZAA chairperson Conrad Mwanza during the ceremony was that ZAA would also be moving to Zimbabwe and South Africa this year.

Inter-denominational Christian group Zimpraise and Mokoomba were among some of the celebrated winners.

ZAA also announced special honours for some outstanding Zimbabweans who had made significant contributions to women and children’s rights, wildlife conservation, education and philanthropy, and youth empowerment.

Mwanza awarded special honours to women and children’s rights advocate and general secretary of the World YWCA Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda, wildlife conservationist Clive Stockil, educationist and philanthropist Henry Chitsenga, and youth empowerment group Zim Youth Global Network (ZYGN).

International Gospel artiste – Zimpraise Community Organisation of the Year – Thekwane Alumni Association Community Champion – Maureen Ndawana Academic – Dr Dominic Pasura DJ of the Year-Lady Gee2 International Artiste -Mokoomba Event of the Year-History Tour – Oliver Mtukudzi and Thomas Mapfumo Media Organisation – Zim Entertainment Media Personality -Scola Dondo Company of the Year – Vavaki Architects Ltd Female Entrepreneur – Senzeni Murua Male Entrepreneur – Keith Mkandla Tourism – African Bush Camps Innovation – Senzeni Murua Sports and Culture – Derick Chisora People’s Choice – Aunty Jenny
