THE Zimbabwe 7s rugby team got their 2015 Africa Youth Games campaign on a high note when they thumped Tunisia 33-7 in their first pool match before dispatching Namibia 14-5 in the second game at the University of Botswana Stadium in Gaborone yesterday.

In their third game of the day, Zimbabwe crushed Botswana 390-5. In other disciplines, the Botswana badminton team has started the Africa Youth Games on a bad note after falling to Mauritius 2-0 in the mixed doubles. Tshepo Perekisi and Tesah Kabelo failed to press forward after taking the lead in the first set which they lost 21-15. The second set proved tough due to an ankle injury to Kabelo. The set ended with a 21-10 win for Mauritius. In the other mixed doubles, Nigeria walloped Zambia 2-0.

The injured Kabelo lost 2-0 to Shaama Sandooyea of Mauritius in the girls’ singles. In the boys’ doubles, Tumisang Olekantse partnering with Perekisi lost 2-0 to Julian Paul and Subbraroyan of Mauritius. Egypt won 2-0 against Seychelles with Nigeria beating Zambia.
