National police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi said police were carrying out further investigations while Muzenda was in custody.

“He (Muzenda) is in police custody and is assisting with investigations,” he said.

Sources said Muzenda handed himself to the police accompanied by his lawyer Zivanai Macharaga of Mugiya and Macharaga Law Chambers.

Muzenda allegedly denied killing the woman, saying she grabbed a gun from the dashboard of his car and shot herself following an undisclosed misunderstanding.

People from the village where the alleged crime was committed told NewsDay that Muzenda and Kombo had an altercation on Monday morning at a house which is reportedly owned by the witch-hunter.

After the argument, the two were said to have driven away in the Mercedes Benz to an unknown destination.

The woman was later found on Tuesday morning stuffed in the back of the Mercedes with blood all over her body and two gunshot wounds.
