CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League side Triangle head coach Biggie Zuze heaved a huge sigh of relief after his side recorded an emphatic important home win against Buffaloes at Gibbo Stadium yesterday.

The home side had collected just five points from their opening seven matches of the season and Lowveld fans were now losing confidence in the gaffer.

Triangle started the match with fierce raids in the opening minutes and they were duly rewarded just four minutes into the game after double scorer Richard Kawondera hit the target from an acute angle.

The home side’s defender David Sengu, who has not been commanding a first team jersey of late, saw his free-kick finding no takers in the 10th minute with the opposition defenders at sixes and sevens.

Referee Rugare Kusosa waved play on after Sengu had appeared to handle Admire Dzumbunu’s shot inside the box.

Ten minutes before half-time, striker Nhamo Lameck saw his shot miss the target with Buffaloes shot-stopper Mwandimutsira a well beaten man.

In the second stanza, the home side started the match on a high note and they scored their second goal in the 56th minute with Tinei Chitora after benefiting from a Hillary Bakacheza cross.

Buffaloes defender Prosper Matizanadzo was red-carded by Kusosa for a second bookable offence after tackling Bakacheza just the outside the box six minutes later.

Kawondera scored his second goal of the afternoon in the 67th minute. Sengu hacked Buffaloes striker Jacob Muzokomba inside the box in the 72nd minute and the striker picked himself up to convert from the spot.

Substitute Blessing Maziwisa scored the fourth goal for the hosts before Chitora put the final nail on the coffin in added time.

Zuze said he was impressed with his team’s performance.

“We have been preparing well in all our matches, but results were not coming. We have been scoring goals, but our defending was poor. But we managed to rectify that today [yesterday],” he said.

Buffaloes head coach Luke Masomere said he was not happy with his team’s travel arrangements.

“Ever since, we have been travelling on match day and today [yesterday], we arrived at lunch. Even today [yesterday], our players threatened not to come because of some few issues with the club,” he said.
