That it was her debut appearance at Hifa appeared to aid her performance at the premier festival that ended yesterday.

Delazy, who is signed to Sony Music Africa, was performing in the country for the second time after having performed at the opening of the 2012 edition of Zimbabwe Fashion Week.

Her music, which is a fusion of several genres including hip hop, soul and jazz, proved to be popular with revellers constantly singing along.

The musician also displayed her multiple talents, playing on the keyboard.

She performed songs Pump It On, With You and Memoriam among others.

After her performance, Delazy who is making waves on the South African scene, left the country yesterday for Swaziland where she was billed to perform at the 12th edition of the annual Simunye Fun Fair festival that ended yesterday.

The 24-year-old singer, who started playing classical piano and composing music at a tender age of nine, rose to fame in 2011 with the releases of single Pump It On before releasing her debut album, Due Drop Deluxe the following year.

In the same year, she scooped the Best Pop Album(Due Drop Deluxe) and the Newcomer of the Year awards at the 9th edition of the Annual MTN South African Music Awards.

Currently, her music video Memoriam off her debut album was nominated in the Music Video of the Year at the 2014 edition of the Annual MTN South African Music Awards.

The video which was released last year in October shows an intimate side to Delazy, touching on the theme of losing a loved one, a reminiscent of her mother Princess Lethuxolo who died in a car accident in 2008.

Hifa has grown to be one of the most vibrant festivals on the continent and has been running under the theme Switch On.
