Option Nyahunzvi’s art pieces highlighting football moments that have impacted soccer lovers’ game are the centre of attraction at the exhibition.

In an interview with NewsDay, arts promoter Ricardo Figueiredo said the art collection was inspired by his love for football and thus the decision to share various memories of the game through art.

“These pieces are illustrations that remind us of great footballing moments both good and bad. Memories that made us celebrate and those which ended in tears,” Figueiredo said.

“We just had to incorporate the love of football and the love of art so as to create something unique and captivating.”

He said they had put together various footballing moments of the past decade which would be meaningful to football-loving art collectors.

“We have paintings of angry couches, surprised players like Asamoah Gyan when he missed a crucial penalty at the 2010 World Cup as well as supporters in celebratory mode,” Figueiredo added.

He said he was thrilled by the large number of appreciative people who had turned out.

Nyahunzvi said he was glad people were impressed with the exhibition. “I cannot express how I feel at the moment, but all I can say is I am touched with the way people are responding to the artwork.”

He said he was delighted with the public’s growing interest in local art and went on to thank DHL for sponsoring the exhibition.

Theatre of Dreams is Koovah’s third successful exhibition since opening its doors earlier this year.
