SHABANIE MINE continued with their winning streak at home when they edged Bantu Rovers in a Castle Premiership football match at Maglas Stadium yesterday.
The Chinda Boys followed up their two home wins over Triangle and Black Rhinos which took them into second place.
A first half penalty converted by goalkeeper Victor Twaliki ensured victory for the home team. Shabanie coach John Phiri was ecstatic with the victory and perfomance from his team.
“We played well but could have won with a bigger margin had our strikers converted numerous chances that came our way. But I am happy that we are managing to create those chances and we will work on finishing,” said Phiri.
Bantu assistant coach Mandla Mpofu was happy with the effort from his charges although it ended in a losing note.
“We should have avoided that penalty but above all we played well though we failed to get a result,” he said.

Fifteen minutes Carlos Mesi could have doubled the lead when he latched onto an Allen Tavarwisa cross but hit the upright.
Louis Matawu missed a free header inside the box off a Murwira cross on the right. Tavarwisa failed to beat Bantu keeper Brighton Chipula on a face to face situation three minutes later after being set up by Talbot Mthombeni.
Dube could have stolen a point for the visitors but his header off a Bongani Sikwila cross hit the cross bar.
