Titled Show Me Love, the song was recorded in the United States and Jamaica and is set to be released on June 6.

Pee Kay told NewsDay that he had followed trends in the country that have seen dancehall as the hottest genre.

“With the current trend in the music industry, dancehall is the hottest thing for the Zimbabwean market and hip hop has been lagging behind. I felt the hip hop industry was to blame for its demise and I took it upon myself to come up with a new beat by bringing the two genres together,” said Pee Kay.

Pee Kay  said while he was contemplating which artiste to feature, Busy Signal’s name kept coming up and he then consulted his management. “I told them I wanted Busy Signal and literally demanded that I get him to be on the track and the next thing I get a call and everything else is history,” said Pee Kay.

“What matters the most is that I did not do this collaboration for myself as an artiste, but for Zimbabwe to bridge certain gaps between different worlds. I did it for my fellow artistes so that they  know that dreams are possible.

“I did it for the ordinary Zimbabwean who walks the streets so they can also boast about it to others and most importantly, I did it for my fans because they made me who I am and they give me the energy to wake up every day and represent them. This is a way of thanking them.”

He said the experience has made him grow as an artiste owing to the versatility of Jamaican artistes.

The musician is currently riding high with his single Ma1 which has become an anthem in nightspots and is receiving fair attention on different radio stations.

He said the collaboration with Busy Signal should result in more doors for locals on the international scene for it to be a bigger success story.
