Munotidako singer Moyana, Brian Samaita bury hatchet

SUNGURA artiste Jacob Moyana and Mutare-based Brian Samaita, who were at loggerheads over composition of the song Munotidako, have buried the hatchet.

The two last week said they would soon be working on an album together.

The rift between the two erupted after Samaita claimed that he had composed the song Munotidako, a claim Moyana vehemently contested.

Munotidako earned Moyana the fame that he currently enjoys and it appears Samaita’s claims were aimed at gaining attention.

Interestingly, this was not the first time that Samaita has made such claims as he previously told the media that he had composed some of the late Tongai Moyo’s hits.

Samaita claimed he penned tracks like Ndiro Yababa, Tariro and Budget Yemuhomwe among others, but Moyo’s son, Peter, was quick to put down the claims.

Speaking to NewsDay, Moyana said they had resolved their differences with Samaita.

“We have managed to solve the problem and it is now water under the bridge,” Moyana said.

“I was in Mutare recently and we agreed to record an album either at the end of month or next month.”

Samaita said they had put aside what happened and he was happy to work with Moyana.

“There are no more quarrels between us as we have sorted the issue,” Samaita said.

“We are going to release an album titled Nguvayacho Yakwana that will have six tracks — three from me and the other three from Moyana.”

The businessman-cum-musician said he will be playing the lead guitar while Moyana will play the rhythm guitar on the album that will begin recordings next month.

However, the two appear to be on a collision course with Samaita already naming some of his songs with titles derived from Moyana’s lurid songs.
