Hoskins, who is also the South Africa Rugby Union president, arrived in the country on Sunday at the invitation of the Zimbabwe Rugby Union (ZRU).

After watching some of the matches at the Jubilee Field alongside the ZRU boss John Falkenberg, Hoskins said he was impressed by the high level of competition displayed by both the boys and girls teams saying: “I’ve heard a lot about this tournament and to come and see it physically, it has lived up to all expectations. It just shows what the people of Zimbabwe are capable doing in 2014,” Hoskins said.

“The experience has been mind blowing and it’s being played in such a great spirit. Every minute of it has been enjoyable and the matches have been very competitive be it in boys or girls rugby.”

“I must say for me its testimony to something great that Zimbabwe has and I look forward to getting back to the IRB and reporting on this tournament,” Hoskins said.

The respected South African administrator said he had been particularly impressed by Churchill High School in their 80-0 demolition of Livingston Kolobeng College from Botswana.

“My friend Bob Mahari played for my club back in South Africa and he’s their assistant coach. I was so happy to see Churchill. The level of skill they displayed was phenomenal and I look forward to their next game because I think they’re going to have a stronger opposition then,” he said.

In earlier matches, hosts Prince Edward started their campaign on a winning note as they easily dispatched Lomagundi 28-0, while Botswana Under-19 were simply no match for Peterhouse after being hammered 47-0.

Visiting Windhoek Technical High School beat Plumtree 50-7 while Milton beat Marondera High 35-0.

Esigodini-based Falcon College laid down a marker with solid display as they ran in three tries in addition to a penalty and a conversation to beat Eaglesvale 20-0.
