THE Commercial Farmers’ Union of Zimbabwe (CFUZ) has said it is troubled by the government’s silence over the killing of Guruve farmer Malcom Francis and his daughter Catherine by unknown assailants on their farm.

The two were attacked while taking a walk at their farm and found unconscious by a family member who rushed them to hospital on May 10.

Catherine died two weeks ago while Malcolm passed away a week later.

“We condemn this cowardly attack on an elderly man and a young woman and its barbaric brutality in the strongest of terms and find these actions wholly unacceptable to us as a civilised nation,” CFUZ said in a statement over the weekend.

“In addition, we are greatly troubled by the total silence from our authorities, as well as our leaders, around this event so much that we are left wondering if this crime was not sanctioned or condoned by some higher office.

“We most sincerely hope that this is not the case and that the relevant authorities such as the police force as well as others will leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice.”

CFUZ said there were many other unresolved murders and atrocities committed over the last 14 years during the land reform exercise.

  1. Cfuz stop personalising this issue.Zrp is an arm of government.Whatever was said by Mai Charamba mind is just as good as from Com Gen.Thats government. What I can clearly read from the back of your racist mind is what you talk of government is His excellency. You are a racist union at its best.Let the police just do the job they are best at without fear or favour.Regardless the fact that the victims mabhunu.

    • CFUZ want all unsolved cases put on hold so theirs can be attended to. They also want the government to make a statement and to prove beyond doubt that this vile act was not sanctioned by the government they are insinuating has something to hide as far as this case in concerned.

if you recall the farm tragedies, the news channels of the world reported to the whole world that blacks were killing white farmers, who can forget the graphic pictures on cnn? It was horrible and sad to say the least, but the reality was very different. Only 11 whites died and over 200 blacks also died; not a single image or news of any one of the over 200 blacks saw coverage. From one who frequently travels on business all over the world I am subjected to racism on almost every trip, and here at home, the few rhodies left (the rest of the whites here are not rhodies but zimbabweans) consider themselves superior to me, at my own home. Do we need rhodies? Fk them!

      • I think scotv you are being very conservative with the truth on the number that died during the “farm tragedies”. I for one watched all this on my small Giant TV fed by DStv and all deaths were played irregardless of the colour of the political murder. While noone life is more important than the other tine tsumo inoti iyo “nhamo yemumwe hairambigwi sadza.” Thus CFUZ is there for their members and they mourn with them and equally the same you do not expect CFUZ to mourn a ZFU member just like they are also quiet now. It is not about someone being superior than the other as we speak there are people burying and mourning their dead who you do not know about and you have no trouble about it. We all do not go to “heroes’s acre” for funerals except when we are force-marched but others go there because iut is one of their family members.

        • A simple google image search of farm murders will show you only white farmers. I am not condoning murder, it is tragic what happened and I would never wish such horror for anybody; I am human. In all fairness, many are killed everyday from all walks of life, but one group of people expecting the entire government of Zimbabwe to speak because 2 of their own are victims of violent crime is rather ridiculous. That is not the job of the government unless the government is responsible for the tragedy or unless the government speaks on violent crime affecting all, not just the CFUZ.

    • The family were zanu(PF) members, well loved and respected by all in Guruve and the community had no ill intent on them as they mingled colourless with all and sundry. The people who want to taint ZANU(PF)’s name for personal gain might the ones who killed the family knowing very well that attention and focus will not be on the persons themselves but on their colour and year 2000 land reclaiming initiatives were unfortunately 36 whites died, The police must not reveal their progress and just arrest the perpetrators of this heinous deed. It all points to the CFUZ and other opposition parties who will benefit on Zimbabwe being further sanctioned. ZANU(PF) has a lot to loose by the deaths and everything to gain by their being alive. What about the Opposition and CFUZ

  2. Google is paying 75$ per hour! Just work for few hours & spend more time with friends and family. On Sunday I bought themselves a Alfa Romeo from having made $5637 this month. Useful site………………………….WWW.JOBSBAT.COM

  3. How can this idiot regime expect foreign investment when they continue to kill white farmers making the country th worst place any overseas investor would want to business with? The government will not rush to condemn this murder because they do not want to upset the perpetrators who are obviously ZanuPF thugs. These thugs are sending out a message – COME AND INVEST AT YOUR OWN RISK. The ordinary ZanuPF thug has been told that anyone who is non-black is fair game and those who have money to invest are non-black! Foreign investment is out of question in Zimbabwe – it’s clearly not a safe destination for non-black investors who are the ones with the money.

  4. Saka murungu ndiye ega munhu here. How many blacks have been murdered and nothing has been said. Murder is murder whether on black or white. We are all the same in GOD’s eyes the police issued a statement saying they are investigating let them do their job. Investiments investiments my foot always licking whiteman’s behind wake up

    • You are wrong, my friend. The all white CFUZ considers itself first class citizens among the rest of the whites, the blacks and other races that are citizens of Zimbabwe. They expect the government of Zimbabwe to drop everything and make a statement, attend to the murder of 2 of their own and in addition, to prove beyond doubt that the crime was not sanctioned or condoned by some higher office. The CFUZ demands that the police force as well as others must abandon the many unsolved murder cases so that they can concentrate on leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice for their case. Murder is a vile crime that must be condemned, I wish to express my condolences to the families of the departed without politicizing the loss of life.

I recall one CFUZ member expressing outrage at Morgan Tsvangirai’s failure to reply a letter he wrote to the then Prime Minister and for that, he joined the many voices calling for Morgan Tsvangirayi to step down. I mean, forget about allegations of corruption, financial mismanagement raised by those calling for the resignation of Mr. Tsvangirayi; one farmer wanted him to resign for not responding to a freaking letter!

      Wow, rhodies!

  5. @pondai – while murder is murder whether it is black or white but such murders of minorities give a very impression to the outside world, not least when the ruling party is banging on daily about foreign investment. The whites in the West are the ones with the money to invest whether you like it or not. You can rant and rave about being equal in Gods eyes but at the end of the day it is us who want the money from the rich whites and not the whites wanting anything from us. That is the bottom line. If this country wants investment then it has got to start behaving in a civilised manner. We have no choice but to lick the bottoms of those who have money to invest. Therefore you have to take these murders as something to be treated with special care. The investigation has to be done sharpish to dispel any notion that it was a “political murder” not a criminal thing because in the past criminal activity has been treated as “political matter”. This country has got a bad record as it is on murdering farmers.

    • If I may ask, are you saying that whites in Zimbabwe must be given special treatment because they happen to share a skin tone with investors in Europe? Please don’t call me names, I come in peace.

  6. The issue is the incompetence and uncaring attitiude of the ZRP. If the investigation into the death of Gen Mujuru was compromised by the stupid investigating betails and they were not even able to take fingerprints at the scene then what chance does an “Ordinary” murder of someone who is not a Chef have? The ZRP are best at making ridiculous fines on the roads and nothing elese. There will not be any arrest or any proper investigation into this or any other atrocity by the murderous regime of ZANU pf and their useless Police force.

Do we want these people to have a say in who leads Zimbabwe, seriously?

  8. I HOPE PEOPLE WILL STOP LOOKING AT THIS ISSUE IN RACIAL TERMS OR OTHER DIMENSION CAUSE THE PEOPLE WHO ARE FEELING THE PAIN ARE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF THE DECEASED.DEATH IS DEATH BLACK OR WHITE WE ALL FEEL THE PAIN OF LOOSING LOVED ONES.LETS GIVE THE COPS THE SPACE 2DO THEIR WORK,IF THEY FAIL TO MAKE A BREAKTHROUGH THEN LETS JUDGE THEM HARSHLY.ITS UNFORTUNATE THAT COPS AND ZPF HAVE A SOILED PAST WHERE MURDERS AND RAPES IN THE FARMING COMMUNITY ARE CONCERNED,DO HOPE THIS TIME ROUND SOMEONE WILL DO THEIR JOB WITHOUT POLITICAL INFLUENCE.AS FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO LICK WHITE BACKSIDES I SAY U A MEDIOCRE AND PATHETIC SOME HAVE LIVED 4 MORE THAN 15YRS WITHOUT WORKING 4 A WHITEMAN.WHATS NEEDED ARE GOOD POLICIES TO ATTRACT INVESTORS OF ALL SHADES.

  9. Oh you minute minded pieces of unspeakable waste, who always have to pull the racism bull every time you see something that you do not agree with! The difference is the whites try harder and use all means at their disposal to bring justice and the problem is because they are a very small minority they are castigated by a very envious and cowardly people who are vast in number but do nothing to save themselves and their own when clearly they have the voice and power to do so! look and learn from the north and see if those here who claim to be brave like your own murdering so called war vets who love to claim hero status for the murder of the old and unarmed and children!!!! They are not inhuman and certainly rank among the greatest cowardly beings to have walked this earth!! True scum of the earth!

    • Wow, a lot of hatred in your little speech there. It must sting to be a racist and to know that rhodies are the least relevant species on earth. There are many white Zimbabweans who are good people and honest citizens, the few rhodies give every one of the decent whites a bad name. It is a shame.

  10. l feel sorry for those who are condoning the murder wat u must no is chamadyara chichabuda chigokura neckuchimbira nekuti isora haridiwi. pamuchapepuka mhondi dzakupindirai mumba ndipo muchaziwa kuti chatakadyara chiye and that will be too late. chizogarai makaziwa kuti chakaipa chakaipa nekuti chakaipa hazvineyi nyakuita kana nyakuitirwa am sorry once again.

  11. Those who do not see the silence of govt as evil and implies complicity in the murders are wilfully blind and are the usual suspects;those who benefit from the farm invasions and are generally getting filthly rich in the general chaos and misery in this so called free country. There are the same people who get emotional when justice is demanded for the people murdered by the filthy fifth brigade a.k.a.gukurahundi.

  12. why should not they just leave the counrty, that is all whites.i forsee oneday when they will be hunted for one by one .nothing is impossible not with God but with Zanu pf sponsored babarians

  13. Some people have a licence to kill in this sorry so called free country. In a country that calls itself educated you shudder to hear stone age mentality that wants us to see nothing terribly wrong with the murder of those two.And this same idiotic mentality is blissfully unaware of the contradiction of this govt’s silence over the murders and it’s hot air calls for more foreign investment?!

  14. ” unknown assailants on their farm” means none witnessed the incident or murders and investigations are being done. The CFUZ must also tell the world the family were ZANU(PF) members who were loved by all and sundry in Guruve and were regarded as Makorekore or Matande. The only suspects are those who would want to put the government and the party Zanu in bad state. this can only be the work of the CFUZ and other opposition parties or maybe robbers. The government must not reveal any leads as this will compromise their efforts.

  15. People, including farmers who are not members of CFUZ, are being murdered daily in the country and Government generally does not comment on individual cases. Why does CFUZ expect special response from Government in this case?

    • @gandagobvu – wabaya dede hanzvadzi. Besides Advocate Dinha responded to this issue saMinister of Prov Affairs saka handizivi kuti vanga vakuda ani futi kuti ataure…kana varikuda baba Chatunga here? ,inga vakatomirirwawo kuChingwizi nevapenyu vasati vafa…ko wedu Neil zvaakafa did we ask for baba Chatunga to comment? I think pple are expecting too much from govt iri kutotsvaga mari dzekubhadhara vashandi. Ndatenda hangu.

  16. Black or white no one is above the law. It is unfortunate that innocent souls are just being killed and the perpetrators are moving freely without being arrested. Is it a crime to be born white or black? Are we not all human beings. In Zimbabwe if a white man die it is nothing because he or she is white. I want to use this term to some of the people who hate whites like some people. YOU ARE BLACK RACISTS. RACISM IS NOT ABOUT SUPERIOR WHITES ONLY. Why don’t we live in harmony and love one another as brothers and sisters black or white. The President of Zimbabwe must stop hate speech these are the results.

  17. @scotv – remove the mote from thine own eye. There is more ignorant racism here than from any rhodie.

    • I am also disgusted by racism by blacks against other races, my dear; for the record. The racism displayed by a handful non rhodies here is far less than the racism displayed in the real world against blacks by most races especially the whites and the Arabs, but how could you know this?

Racism is evil, but don’t think that my being disturbed by the glaring racism displayed by CFUZ means I am racist or that I support the views of blacks who hate all whites because of their race.

  18. Even if that father and daughter who were taking a walk in their own private property were black or chinese, that matter should be condemned as the worst thing one can do to another human being. Let us not look at the race, colour or tribe, a crime against humanity is a crime against humanity. It just so happens that these were farmers and naturally the group that represents their interests as farmers is the C.FU. Had they been students we would expect the same from Students’ bodies.

  19. @gandagobvu – wabaya dede hanzvadzi.

  20. @scotv…I am sensing racist mentality from yo remarks. CFUZ rightfully has always demanded fairness in matters pertaining to farmers. An organisation that stands for any group of people has an obligation to do so. When the police are investigating a murder, that cannot stop relatives or anyone concerned from gathering facts on that murder to see whether it was criminal or political. A case in point is that of some farmer who was murdered near or at a police station sometime ago,I dont remember any arrests. So one would be forgiven if they claim unfairness. The farmers’ voice is the CFUZ
