GOVERNMENT has extended its begging bowl to financial institutions as it seeks to complete the new Makombe Building Complex to house the Registrar-General’s Department offices.

The building has been incomplete for more than two decades at a time when most government departments suffer from lack of accommodation and have to rent office space.

Mashonaland West Senator Mike Byton Musaka (Zanu PF) on Thursday asked Home Affairs deputy minister Ziyambi Ziyambi to explain to Senate why the building was taking too long to complete construction of the building.

Ziyambi said the government was now making pleas for financial assistance.

But he did not further explain which particular banks had been approached. “We had financial challenges to the effect that the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing could not finish construction of the complex,” Ziyambi said.
