Mwafungatenyi Musiiwa, who worked as secretary for Chipinge District Administrator’s Office, was jailed by Chipinge magistrate Vusimuzi Gapare last Thursday after she was found guilty of stealing $201 donated towards last month’s Independence Day celebrations.

However, three months were suspended on condition of good behaviour while the remainder was set aside on condition she paid restitution.

The court heard that on April 14 this year, Musiiwa received $21 from Tongogara Primary School being Independence contributions from the pupils, but converted the money to her own use.

On April 16, she again received $7 from Junction Gate Primary School and another $28 from Coffee Research.

Musiiwa further received $5 from Tanganda Primary School and $140 from Mbanje Farm for the same cause but she converted all the money to her own use.

The matter only came to light following an audit by the District Administrator’s Office.
