Club Forty-40 entertainment manager DJ Mzoe yesterday confirmed that the Loliwe hitmaker did not turn up because she had not accessed the payment.

“We had finalised all the provisions needed for Zahara and (South African DJ) Lady Cream to grace the after party event and we gave DJ Ohmz the $500 that was to be handed to Chris Musabayana of Ghetto Fabulous Entertainment for bookings so that Zahara could come to our club. We had been told Musabayana was responsible for bringing Zahara into the country,” DJ Mzoe said.

Zahara was expected to have photo shoots and sign autographs for her Bulawayo fans.

Lady Cream, however, later turned up and performed.

Mzoe said DJ Ohmz told the management that Zahara and DJ Lady Cream wanted a total of $1 000, but later discovered they had been duped by DJ Ohmz who had doubled the charge.

“DJ Ohmz cheated us by doubling the amount from the initial $500 that the duo of Zahara and DJ Lady Cream had requested,” DJ Mzoe said.

Management had to pay another $400 on Saturday night so that Lady Cream could play and clear the tense atmosphere which was at the club.

The matter has since been reported to the police.

Efforts to get a comment from DJ Ohms were fruitless as his mobile phone went unanswered.

This is not the first time that DJ Ohms’s name has been implicated in monetary issues involving promoters and artistes.

Last month, he allegedly vanished with fees for artistes who performed at the Zimdancehall Meets Hip- Hop gig held in Harare Gardens which he was organising on behalf on Musabayana.

DJ Ohmz was last month fired from a local club where he was working as an entertainment manager on allegations of misappropriating funds.

The unsuccessful Zahara’s after party event was part of the Green Concert show where the musician held two shows performing at 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale, Harare, and at Amphitheatre in Bulawayo.
