The campaign is meant to raise $2 000 by Wednesday to cater for Chimanga’s surgery, hospital fees and logistics.

The tumours in the child’s nostrils have progressed aggressively and are now blocking her breathing passage ways which is why they need to be removed urgently.

Sandra, who stays with her unemployed grandmother, was scheduled for surgery on May 14, but failed because of insufficient funds.

Award-winning hip hop group MMT will be spearheading public campaigns and all fundraising activities.

In an interview with NewsDay, director for Celebrities Combined Tinopona “Tin Tin” Katsande appealed to the public for donations towards saving Sandra’s life.

“We are called upon to show our humanity and do what we can to save Sandra’s life. If her air canals are not opened, she could easily suffocate and die,” Katsande said.

She mentioned that an organisation had already come on board to assist with funding the chemotherapy and the money being raised was for surgery and other hospital expenses.

Katsande said people were donating money through Ecocash on 0782 257 710 and Telecash on 0733 662 027.

An FBC Bank account was being set up for diaspora donations. “We have all the faith that once again Zimbabweans will come through and donate what they can so that Sandra gets the operation she needs and lives.”

Celebrities Combined is an initiative of public personalities that are celebrated in the arts industry of Zimbabwe with the aim of raising money for children below the age of 14 who are in need of life-saving operations.

To date, the initiative has fundraised medical procedures for two children Natasha Sanyanga, who needed $100 000 for a bone marrow transplant, and Ashley Mutengwa, who needed $11 500 for a heart operation.

Both girls went to India for their surgeries and came back home healthy after successful operations.

More than 50 celebrities are involved and these include Ammara Brown, Jah Prayzah, Hope Masike, MMT, Cindy and Pokelo Nare, among others.
