SUBSTITUTE Admire Dzumbunu scored a second half beauty that saw his side stun FC Platinum in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League played at Sakubva Stadium yesterday.

It was Buffaloes’ sixth match without conceding a goal and yesterday the army side played to an improving crowd that came to see the entertaining encounter.
Buffaloes’ first real chance came in the 12th minute when the visitors goalkeeper Petros Mhari tipped over the bar Jacob Muzokomba’s effort.

In the 25th minute Warriors trialist Prosper Matizanadzo’s full blooded shot was blocked by Thabani Kamusoko with Mhari a well beaten man.

The visitors could have opened the flood gates in the 44th minute when Marshal Mudehwe’s shot inside the box missed the target by a few inches.

After the breather FC Platinum introduced former Buffaloes striker Steven Sibanda for the ineffective Njabulo Ncube but he failed to change the complexion of the game.

FC Platinum also substituted Mitchel Katsvairo for Wisdom Mutasa, but a goal could not come their way.

In the 70th minute, Qadr Amini received a pass from his skipper Daniel Vheremu just outside the box, but his blistering shot hit the cross bar.

At the other end, Roy Mwenga saw his shot saved by the impressive Mhari before Dzumbunu who came in for Malvern Fenyeka, dented the visitors’ hopes with a well taken free kick from just outside the box.

Coach Luke Masomere said he was still staying at Buffaloes despite earlier threats to quit the cash strapped side.

“I am really happy with the performance of the team. It’s now six out of six and I am still staying here at Buffaloes but I don’t know what the future holds for me. The club executive needs to do something so that they motivate the team but I am disgruntled,” said Masomere.

His counterpart Lloyd Mutasa said: “It’s a pity that we lost the match. It’s part of the game but I think the guys managed to put up a good performance.”

At the Colliery, Hwange beat Bantu Rovers 2-0 to return to the summit of the standings with 14 points. Evans Rusike and an Eric Chipeta penalty ensured Nation Dube’s men of maximum points.
