The authority said it was ready to conduct public hearings on a date to be advised.

In a statement, BAZ chief executive officer Obert Muganyura said the authority received 21 applicants from nine areas out of 25 areas invited.

BAZ hopes to complete the process by July this year.

“Out of these 21 applications, the authority has shortlisted 18 applicants who will be subjected to public hearings to determine their suitability to be licensed, as required in terms of the Broadcasting Services Act (Chapter 12:06),” Muganyura said.

“The authority will formally advise all the applicants of the outcome of this shortlisting process.”

BAZ said it was now preparing to hold public hearings on dates, venues and times to be advised through written and published notices.
