URBAN grooves artiste Ngoni Kambarami has followed the tide of dancehall music with the release of two tracks that are currently doing well on local charts.

Although the musician would want to call himself a diverse artiste who does not focus on one genre, the two tracks — one reggae and the other dancehall — seem to point in that direction.

The tracks are doing well on the local charts, especially I Have Come A Long Way which is a conscious track on the Tax Money Riddim. Tax Money Riddim was produced in Jamaica and it was released at the end of last year.

Some of the prominent artistes who feature on the riddim are Sheldon Ryan Augustus Campbell, better known as Turbulence, and Lutan Fyah. The dancehall track is titled Ariko.

The soft spoken artiste said he loves to cut across genres when singing. “Many people know me as an urban grooves artiste, but I do not focus on one genre alone. That is why I released those two tracks I Have Come A Long Way and Ariko,” Kambarami said.

“In future, you shall hear other tracks in different genres.” The Zvaundoiita So hit-maker said the tracks were from his forthcoming album to be released later this year.

“The album will carry 10 songs and it will be released in August. I am going to release the songs as singles so as to minimise the effect of piracy,” he said.

Kambarami has three albums to date, namely Ndinoimba, Angu Mashoko and Idenderedzwa since he ventured into music at the turn of the millennium. He added that the album would have remixes of some of his popular songs. Recently, Kambarami joined internationally-recognised record label Abbra Tribe or simply Abbra Records, who will be creating his beats.

Some of Ngoni Kambarami’s popular songs include Wobvira, Angela and Ndiwe Chete.
