Vincent, who is part of the Virginia Tech University team, proved why he is currently rated one of the best amateurs in the US with another solid perfomance to tie for the lead ahead of the final round which was expected to take place late yesterday (Zimbabwe time).

The Chapman Golf Club prodigy shot rounds of 68 and 69 for a seven-under-par 137 and was tied with Greg Eason of University of Central Florida for the individual lead.

Vincent, who now Africa’s second highest ranked amateur had nine birdies overall and just a single bogey in each of the day’s two rounds for his 137 total.

He entered the tournament with three individual titles so far this season and was also the only golfer in the field to post two, sub-70 rounds on Saturday.

With his impressive display, Vincent helped Virginia Tech to a two-round total of 11-under-par 565 and third place after the first two rounds of the Augusta Invitational.

The Augusta Invitational is held annually a week before the year’s first major golf tournament, The Masters, to showcase the best collegiate talent in the US. Competing teams also are allowed to attend the Master’s practice round which will be held this morning at Augusta National.

Vincent is expected to feature in this year’s Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open which tees off on Thursday after being invited by the Zimbabwe Open Golf Committee. He will be one of the five other top Zimbabwean amateurs in the field namely Thembelani Vundla, Jack Allard, Christian Mbanga and Clive Nguru.

Meanwhile, the final field for the 2014 Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open will be confirmed after the 18-hole pre-qualifier set for Chapman Golf Club this morning.

The pre-qualifier for non-exempt players will see a field of 76 professional and amateur golfers battling it out for eights slots ahead of the tee off of the 2014 Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open on Thursday.
