Triangle . . . . . . . . . . .(0) 1
Chicken Inn . . . . . . .(1) (1)
CHICKEN Inn once again dropped points after they allowed Triangle to come from behind to snatch a point in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Chishamiso Stadium yesterday.
The visitors could have come out of the Lowveld with nothing, but have goalkeeper Liberty Chirava to thank after he saved a Tineyi Chitora’s 16th minute penalty.
The Joey Antipas-coached side went ahead in the first half through Tendai Mukambi while the hosts responded through goalkeeper Ronald Mudimu from the penalty spot in the second half.
The match started on a slow note as both teams appeared to weigh each other with Chicken content in seating deep and trying their luck on breakaway attacks.
One such breakaway attack paid dividends when Gorge Majika escaped on the wing before delivering as fine pass that was converted by Mukambi.
Triangle found the equaliser when the referee Makwanda awarded the hosts a penalty for a Moses Jackson handball, a second of the match in the 62nd minute and up-stepped Mudimu to send his opposite number the wrong way.
The match had its share of controversy when the referee awarded the hosts a goal that had gone through a side net, only to rescind the decision after a five-minute stoppage. This was after consultations with first assistant referee Antony Siyavunda.
Triangle head coach Biggie Zuze said , “I think the guys played well against an experienced Chicken Inn side and l am happy with the result although we dropped two points at home. The game turned physical in the second half and we managed to match them.”
