On Saturday, Bantu Rovers face army side Black Rhinos at Luveve Stadium at 1300hrs while Chicken Inn will be up against Harare City at 1530hrs.

Twenty-four hours later, the pay-per-view channel will broadcast the match of wounded lions — How Mine and Dynamos — at the same venue at 1500hrs.

Dynamos were knocked out of the African Champions League in the first round when they fell to AS Vita of the Democratic Republic of Congo and are aiming for a fourth straight local crown that will take them back to Africa.

How Mine fell to Bayelsa United of Nigeria in the second round of the African Confederation Cup and are determined to return home with a bang against the defending champions, whom they beat twice last season.

Last season, Supersport screened 53 matches, but this term they are likely to televise more matches.

Max Tshunungwa, the SuperSport executive producer for Africa, told a media networking in Harare last month that there was a lot of potential in the local league.

“We screened 53 matches last year and we want to beat that this season. We will deliver all matches on high definition, including the big matches,” he said.

“We have a dedicated magazine show that will also look at club profiles, the chairman’s corner and other things to do with the players, the reviews and the previews. You must understand that we are just a year old in Zimbabwe, we are growing, but there is a lot of potential here.”

In the other matches set for this weekend, Bulawayo giants Highlanders travel to Ascot Stadium for a date with Premiership returnees Chapungu on Saturday. FC Platinum, who finished fourth last term, visit Chiredzi FC at Chishamiso Stadium.

On Sunday, Harare giants Caps United face off with Premiership newcomers ZPC Kariba at Gwanzura Stadium. Makepekepe, who have failed to land the championship since winning back-to-back titles under the guidance of Charles Mhlauri in 2004 and 2005, are confident of clinching the championship this time around.

Hwange host army side Buffaloes at the Colliery also on Sunday, with the other match pitting Shabanie against Triangle at Maglas Stadium.
