NESTLÉ Zimbabwe, in partnership with the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries, will next month host a one-day forum aimed at increasing collaboration between government, business and civil society.

Business Reporter The forum, to be held on May 14 in Harare, will run under the theme: The Changing Role of Business in Society.

Nestlé Zimbabwe managing director Kumbirayi Katsande said in a statement that the Creating Shared Value Forum would be the first in the country where business, government, academic institutions and civil society would come together to explore avenues of engaging in win-win collaborations.

“We live in a new global reality and tackling the food crisis, the water crisis and malnutrition have become key priorities for many countries,” he said.

“Zimbabwe is not immune to these issues and the time has come for all stakeholders, including business, to adopt a collaborative approach for the benefit of our future generations.”

Katsande said the Creating Shared Value Forum concept was a business approach that focused on exploring the connection between societal and economic progress, enhancing the competitiveness of a company while simultaneously advancing the economic and social conditions in society.

He said the forum would focus on three areas where business could play a significant role in transforming the economic and social conditions of the communities it operated in. Other areas of focus were nutrition, rural development and water.

Katsande said during the forum, each focus area would be led by panellists selected from Zimbabwe’s foremost business executives, policymakers, academics, government representatives, service providers, community organisations, research and developmental organisations, stakeholders and politicians.

Over 100 delegates have been invited to attend the forum.
