16:25 – Bhebhe announces  Biti’s expulsion to the crowds.

 16:23 – The Press Conference has ended and meanwhile hundreds of supporters continue to sing and chant pro-Tsvangirai songs.

16:20 – Jameson Timba, Dorcas Sibanda and Henry Madzorera are also present.

16:18 – Tsvangirai says Biti and Mangoma have not betrayed him but have betrayed the people of Zimbabwe.

16:15 – “I do not believe this is a split but  its individuals who have decided to form their own party.” Tsvangirai.

16:13 – The party will hold an early congress in October to re-energize the party.

16:11 – 9 MPs who attended  the Mandel Meeting  will be recalled from Parliament. Tapiwa Mashakada will be acting Secretary General.

16:10 – All those who attended the Mandel meeting have been expelled, says Tsvangirai.

16:08 – Chamisa announces on behalf of Mwonzora, whom he says has been called to the  Police Law and Order department, that 37 out of the 52 expected members of the national executive attended, meaning the had a quorum.

16:06 – 5 delegates decided not to vote. Accordingly, the resolution is to expel Biti from the party.

16:05 – This is met by cheers from the gallery.

16:04 – “In terms of article 2, we voted to expel Biti. Out of 167 delegates,  162 voted to expel Biti,” announces Moyo.

16:02 – Lovemore Moyo speaking. Present at the press conference are Theresa makone, Thokozani Khupe, Mashakada and Morgan Komichi among others.

15:37 – Some of the supporters are outside singing pro-Tsvangirai songs and chanting his ‘Save’ totem.

15:28 – Tamborinyoka says they are rounding up meeting

15:27 – Morgan Tsvangirai’s spokesperson Luke Tamborinyoka announces to journalists that the press conference will start in a few minutes and urges journalists to be patient as issues being discussed are ‘contentious’.

15:18 – Morgan Tsvangirai is going to adress the members of the press.

15:14 – We are yet to establish deeper details  of the meeting as of now but sources are indicating that Morgan Tsvangirai chaired the meeting, whilst the Biti camp did not attend.

15:09 – No party officials have arrived yet.

15:04 – Riot police are waiting outside Harvest House as scores of MDC-T supporters sing.
