ZIFA president Cuthbert Dube believes the sharp differences between Zifa chief executive Jonathan Mashingaidze and Warriors coach Ian Gorowa can be resolved

ZIFA president Cuthbert Dube believes the sharp differences between Zifa chief executive Jonathan Mashingaidze and Warriors coach Ian Gorowa can be resolved and that they can work together in developing Zimbabwean football.

Dube was speaking during a workshop designed to induct the Zifa secretariat so that they appreciate their roles and responsibilities in football management.

“It’s possible to have the two work together again,” said Dube. “There is nothing impossible. They might have differences, but there is need for reconciliation and it is very possible,” said Dube.

There has been bad blood between the two men with Gorowa labelling the Zifa chief executive a “habitual liar”.

This was after it emerged that Gorowa had been working without a contract or pay and was only receiving an “upkeep token” from the Zifa president which was also stopped in November last year.

Gorowa took aim at Mashingaidze after the official claimed they had given the coach a contract and were only waiting for him to sign the deal.

Mashingaidze told journalists during a tour of Zifa Village early this year that the football association had offered Gorowa a contract document, adding they were waiting for the coach to come back to them over the issue.

“The contract is already with him, but he said he will come back to us after the (Chan) finals. So as an association, we are waiting for him. If it takes long, we might have to remind him,” said Mashingaidze at the time.

However, Gorowa blasted the Zifa officials and warned them against trying to deceive the nation.

“Zifa has offered nothing up to now. They should desist from trying to look good in the eyes of the nation by manipulating my name,” said Gorowa at the time.

However, the two are now set to bury their differences and work together as the Warriors kick off their 2015 African Cup of Nations campaign against Tanzania next month.
