Chamunorwa Masenda had denied the charges when he appeared before Marondera magistrate Victor Mahomadi.
It was the State case that on March 20, 2014, Mupfupi’s employee penned his herd of cattle and retired to bed.
During the same night, Masenda went to the cattle pen and took one brown cow and a heifer and drove them to Cheu village where he gave them to Irene Gadage.
He lied to Gadage that he had forgotten the clearance form.
The following morning, a domestic employee discovered that the two beasts were missing and he informed Mupfupi, who reported the matter to the police.
The police got a tip-off that the cattle were at Cheu village. The beasts were later recovered.

However, Masenda was convicted after prosecutor Emmanuel Dera proved a case against him. He was slapped with 18 years, of which four were suspended on condition that he did not commit the same crime in the next five years.
In passing judgment, Mahomadi noted that stock theft was on the increase in the country.
