His drills and presentation speak more to that effect.

But it was a night to remember for him at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) when the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) honoured him with an ambassadorial role at an event for the launch of his fifth album Kumbumura Mhute.

ZDF Commander General Constantine Chiwenga, who was the guest of honour at the colourful launch, said he was aware of the artiste’s passion for the army.

In a speech read on his behalf by Major-General Trust Mugova, Chiwenga said the musician’s passion for Zimbabwe was comparable to that of other fine men and women of the country.

“Your service in this special way is greatly appreciated and your contribution to the promotion of our image as the ZDF has not gone unnoticed. Conferment of your status as the ZDF goodwill ambassador has been well-received and ordination arrangements will be made in the not-so-distant future,” Chiwenga said.

Jah Prayzah’s manager Filda Muchabaiwa said they were happy for the ambassadorial role endorsement.

“We are humbly honoured as Third Generation Band that Jah Prayzah has finally become the ZDF’s goodwill ambassador, which comes as a result of his admiration by the ZDF,” Muchabaiwa said.

The launch started with a procession from Jameson Hotel to the HICC, where hundreds of fans defied the thumping rains to witness the occasion. Jah Prayzah has risen to the top of local music, producing a number of hits since making a breakthrough in show business.

The album carries songs Soja Rinosvika Kure, Kumaricho, Kumabuda ne Zuva, Sei Mambo and Makanika, among others.

The launch was graced by several guests who included Tourism and Hospitality Industry minister Walter Mzembi, businessman Phillip Chiyangwa, Motswana musician Charma Girl and a number of local musicians like Oliver Mtukudzi, Peter Moyo and Sulumani Chimbetu, among others.

Charma Girl joined Jah Prayzah on stage as they performed their duet Dali Wangu.

Dancehall kingpin Winky D stole the limelight when he arrived at the venue clad in a matching white outfit attracting the attention of the crowd as he joined fellow musicians who were already seated on the same table.
