He takes over from Freddy Mukwesha who had been holding the position since the death of Richard Chiminya two years ago.

Marriot, who was previously an ordinary member of the board, will be deputised by Shackie Chitimbe, while Mkwesha has been relegated to an advisory role.

Owen Chandamale is now the new finance director, taking over from Robson Rundaba, who has been reduced to a non-executive board member.

The other non-executive board members are Charles Gwatidzo, Norman Maziti, Lazarus Magwenzi, Noel Musariyarwa and Freddy Muzuva.

Board of directors secretary Chris Kasiyazi said the changes were meant at helping the club reclaim its former status as one of the big teams in Africa.

He also said the new board had been tasked with “turning the club into a serious business entity that does not rely on gate takings.”
