SAIWE Chimbetu, daughter of the late Simon Chimbetu will be launching her second seven-track gospel album, Simba Rekutenda , on Friday 21 March at Kingston House in the capital

Like the famous Jackson family of the United States which produced the late pop star Michael and Sister Janet, the Chimbetu family is proving to be dominating the local music arena.

Simba Rekutenda comes after the success of her debut six-tracks Shoko RaJehova.

The album which is a fusion of Dendera and rhumba beats. If composed of tracks, Anopindura, Handisarire, Ndodaidza, Sesemere, Kushandura, Anondidana and Munoera. Unlike the other Chimbetu members, Saiwe is the only one to sing gospel music.

“Coming from a Chimbetu family, there is always pressure to follow suit, but I said to myself I have to do it in a different style of the praise songs,” Saiwe said.

“I am a Christian, and I go to Christ Embassy and this is the way to praise God for what he has done for me.”

Saiwe said she attribute’s her success in the music industry to her uncle Allan and brothers Sulumani and Tryson.

“I want to thank the Chimbetu family for inspiring me, not forgetting other relatives for their mutual support and good advice,” she said.

Saiwe said very soon she will be embarking on live shows to take her music to the fans.

Saiwe who is sister to Sulu becomes the first female from the Chimbetu family to record.

However, she is not new on the music scene as she used to play with the late Sam Mtukudzi’s AY Band.
