The other board members are: Vavarirai Choga, CEO Albert Muyambo, Endy Mhlanga, Sibangani Elijah Mathe, Pitiel Mujuru, Francisca Zinyemba, Josephine Ncube and Iain Mambona Mthunzi.

A new board is expected to be appointed in a fortnight.

Kasukuwere announced this in the House of Assembly when he presented a ministerial statement on floods at Tokwe-Mukorsi Dam and what his ministry was doing to address the situation.

“I have dissolved the Zinwa board forthwith and a new board will be announced soon,” Kasukuwere said.

“We are going to appoint a board of technically competent people including engineers in a fortnight to make sure work is done and meanwhile it will be the ministry that will be in charge of everything.”

Kasukuwere said in response to the floods, his ministry would raise the kerb to avoid overtopping of the dam, excavate a channel at level 680 metres which is 64 metres above the river bed to provide an additional water discharge outlet through the right bank spillway, create additional capacity to evacuate incoming floods by drilling a channel, rehabilitate the damaged downstream dam toe and stabilise the slope of the dam by placing large rocks on the affected area.

“I have constituted a five- member team of reputable independent dam engineers who leave for Tokwe-Mukorsi Dam on Thursday (today) to carry out an independent assessment of the situation and report back to me,” he said.
