FAMOUS inter-denominational choir Zimpraise, has deferred auditions for singers and instrumentalists that were supposed to have been held over the weekend at  Harare International Conference Centre.

The choir’s executive director Israel Sevenzo confirmed the development adding that they had now set this weekend as the new date.

“We have not yet reached our target of about 500 people for the first auditioning so we have decided to push it further so as to give more people a chance before we close the doors early this week for the Saturday show,” Sevenzo said.

“At present there are about 300 people on our  list. “As soon as we have reached our target of 500, our board will get in touch with the finalists who will later come for stage 2 auditioning on Saturday at a venue that we will announce mid-week.”

The choir is currently conducting the first stage of the auditions through WhatsApp voice notes, a process which has been received with mixed feelings by some members of society.

According to a recent post on their social network Facebook, those who are willing to be auditioned are required to send a one-minute voice note (singing a common gospel song of their choice) via WhatsApp after paying $2 through an EcoCash account as the registration process.

“For now we are checking on vocal ability and people can continue sending their voice note of not less than one minute,” Sevenzo said. Despite the choir targeting about 500 people, only 100 will be chosen for scholarship training under Zimpraise Academy.
