The line-up includes some of the country’s finest comedians like Comrade Fatso, Nama award-winner Simba Kakora aka The Comic King and the Headliner – ‘Q’.

For all those who have been to a Q show, they know he always has a trick or two up his sleeve.

And this time around it’s his third time headlining the event whose line-up includes Comrade Fatso and the Comic King. It’s a show to look forward to for comedy lovers.

“It’s a huge honour headlining a third time at Simuka and I’m looking forward to it and as I’m going to be testing out some new material, I’m looking forward to the laughs,” Q said.

The Comic King added that while everybody is still in the Valentine’s mood they would be shrieking more on Will You Be my Punchline.

“The show is going to be very topical as we’ve got Bev getting born again, Cuthbert Dube and Gumbura, of course,” he said.

He said it would be a special show which they would be dedicating to “the broke brothers who couldn’t buy their girlfriends anything for Valentine’s Day.”

The Book Cafe and Pamberi Trust support the development of comedy, which has had a rich history at the venue over the years, with some of Zimbabwe’s best known comedians including Victor Mavedzenge, Michael Kudakwashe,  Edgar Langeveldt and Carl Joshua Ncube. Pamberi Trust operates one of the country’s widest arts development programmes which includes music, poetry, comedy, literature and film, with support from Africalia and Hivos.

“This February, Simuka Comedy has refused to be left behind on the love wagon and the comics’ idea of love and romance, however, are what comedy enthusiasts should look forward to this event,” said Simuka Comedy manager, Shanee Banda.

Banda added that unconventional views and opinions, crazy satire and ridiculous philosophies are what Simuka has in store this post-Valentine’s Special.

Simuka Comedy is the brainchild of The Comic King and Victor Mpofu aka Doc Vikela founded three years ago, and arguably remains Zimbabwe’s leading premium comedy brand because not only has it been the driving force behind the country’s comedy industry, but it has also given rise to a number of great comedians.
