Chidhakwa, who is MDC-T youth secretary for security and defence, is believed to be among several party youths that assaulted Mangoma at the MDC-T headquarters on February 15 accusing him of pushing for the ouster of party leader Morgan Tsvangirai.

He was not asked to plead to the charges when he appeared before Harare magistrate Tendai Mahwe. The court heard that on February 15 this year at around 4 o’clock in the afternoon, Chidhakwa teamed up with several other party members who are still at large and pummelled Mangoma as he emerged from a meeting at the party’s headquarters.

Mangoma allegedly sustained multiple bruises, a torn shirt and broken spectacles.

Mangoma reported the matter at Avondale Police Station a few days later, leading to Chidhakwa’s arrest last Friday.
